Howard Park
Having recently completed a circumnavigation of the globe in his
restored 1946 Sparkman & Stephens yawl, COMET, Howard Park
currently resides in Stonington, Connecticut. His love of the sea and
maritime culture is evident in his most recent watercolors inspired by
the journey. Howard attended The School of The Museum of Fine Arts,
Boston and attended the Masters of Fine Arts program at Tufts
University. He continued his studies in France at L’Ecole d’Art
Decoratif de Nice, where he won a National prize in photography. After
a stint in the Merchant Marine, Howard returned to Boston to work as a
photographer and art director, but the lure of the sea eventually led
him to Noank, CT to manage a boatyard and raise his family. Ultimately,
he realized his dream to sail the world and paint. Howard has
participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions, most recently,
“Circumnavigation in Watercolor”. He was also a featured speaker in the
sold-out Adventurer Lecturer Series at Mystic Seaport in the winter of
2001-2002. His work hangs in private collections throughout the world
including that of the Maritime Museum in Auckland, New Zealand. |
