Marie-Louise Rouff grew up in Luxembourg. Inspired by her fatherís penciled drawings of rabbits, birds and trees, Marie-Louise began painting as a young girl. Later, she went on to earn a masterís degree in French, French Literature, and teach languages.
After relocating to St. Louis, Missouri, Marie-Louise registered for an evening drawing class at Washington University. Although she was close to obtaining her doctorate in French, a long-time personal goal that she planned on completing in St. Louis, she found her drive shifting to focus on her art. The evening class in drawing ignited her passion for painting and she gave up on her academic goals for good to dedicate herself full-time to her art. She earned a degree in art from Washington University School of Fine Arts.
Rouff has lived in India and France where she studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. Her work has been exhibited in the United States and Europe. She is represented by galleries in Los Angeles, California and Marthaís Vineyard in Massachusetts. Her paintings and monotypes figure in a number of corporate and private collections. Her work has been purchased by the State Museum of Luxembourg.
