PRESS RELEASE (Martha's Vineyard) Louisa Gould Gallery is thrilled to present works by well-known regional artist, Nancy Furino. Nancy attended the Museum School in Boston, travelled to Europe and thereafter called Martha's Vineyard island her home. Nancy was mostly a plein air painter only bringing her oil paintings into the studio to finish if necessary.

This show has paintings spanning thirty years, with over twenty five paintings. Initially the gallery is exhibiting the pastel pallette, which Nancy did not usually paint. The second body of work consists of her signature bold colors of mostly Martha's Vineyard scapes. Nancy loves the Vineyard and enjoyed painting every
nook, in addition to the main attractions. Nancy connects us to the land and the island is an intimate way. Her signature style is a mixture of impressionism andThomas Hart Benton (also a Martha's Vineyard painter). Ms. Furino is now 90 and still paints on a limited basis.

Please join us for this special exhibit by an island icon and enjoy refreshments during the First Friday Gallery Stroll on Friday, June 7 from 4 to 7pm. Louisa Gould Gallery is located at 54 Main Street, Vineyard Haven on the island of Martha's Vineyard. Call (508) 693.7373 for more information and at louisagould.com to view and purchase online.
