PRESS RELEASE ( MARTHA’S VINEYARD) The Louisa Gould Gallery is honored to showcase the newest oil paintings by gallery artist, Christie Scheele. Please join us on Friday, July 3, from 5 to 7pm for an artist reception. This event is during the larger First Friday event in Vineyard Haven which we are delighted to partake in the festive evening.

Christie is a contemporary landscape painter who has shown on Martha’s Vineyard for thirty years. She is an exhibiting artist of over forty years in galleries nationwide, and her work is included in private and public collections nationwide and internationally.

Christie comments on her latest body of work for this show, “My new paintings at the Louisa Gould Gallery in Vineyard Haven celebrate the uniqueness and the radiance of Vineyard light. Land surrounded by sea, the story is as much about sky as it is about water. My paintings have long been about weather, the endless variation of color and cloud formations in the sky and how the light flows onto water and land. The techniques of layering paint that I developed years ago create the luminescence of atmospheric light, offering the feel of the wide-open vista”
