PRESS RELEASE (Martha's Vineyard)

The Louisa Gould Gallery is excited to celebrate its Sixth Anniversary with an art party and artist reception on Friday, August 7, from 5-8pm at the Main Street Gallery. Don Groover will play guitar, refreshments will be served, and there will be new works to see by Gray Park, Ellen Liman, Robert Jewett, and Jeanne Campbell. Please join the party!

On Saturday , August 8, from 3-5pm , Gray Park will demonstrate his plein air painting style. Please join us at the Gallery again to gain insight into his techniques.

Gray Park is a natural talent. He began painting at nine years of age.  Only in his thirties has he won a handful of national awards, including the John Stobart National Award of Excellence from the Mystic International Maritime Jury. Gray paints large, relaxed landscapes that capture the essence of Vineyard light and seasons.

Ellen Liman will exhibit her bright, bold, and cheerful flower oil paintings in addition to a new body of work entitled, Cloud & Sky. The Cloud & Sky series are mostly paintings of Vineyard Sound.  The palette contrasts with her flowers, providing a diverse show. Ellen studied at the Art Students League in New York and the Rhode Island School of Design and has shown on the island for a number of years.

Complementing the large landscapes and flower paintings are the masterfully created ceramics of Robert Jewett. Collections of Robert's work are displayed in museums. His style continues to change and develop.  For this show, he has made tall vases and carefully created bowls with impressive, stylish details and varying glazes.

The flower photographs by Jeanne Campbell show the richness of Nature's design.  Jeanne is known not only for her gardens but for capturing these gardens in all of their glory, color, and patterns.

Celebrate with us this Friday, August 7, from 5-8pm and re-visit the show until August 20th. The Louisa Gould Gallery is located at 54 Main Street, Vineyard Haven. Please call for directions at (508) 693-7373 or obtain directions at www.louisagould.com .
